2nd hour

SWBAT write expository, functional, and persuasive text by creating a Romeo and Juliet newspaper.

Vocabulary:

  • expository text-writing that informs or explains

  • functional text-writing related to the workplace and consumers

  • persuasive text-writing that seeks to change one’s opinion

Essential Questions: Which events in Romeo and Juliet are news-worthy?

  • Jumpstart: Write a comic strip based on one of the events in Romeo and Juliet. (Prince Escalus’ banishment proclamation, Juliet not being really dead, etc.)

  • R&J Newspaper Microsoft Publisher tutorial and assignment overview. Newspapers are due Monday, April 21, and must be typed.

4th hour

SWBAT demonstrate understanding of concepts taught by taking a post-test.

Essential Questions: What have you learned from reading Romeo and Juliet?

4th hour

SWBAT review concepts taught by completing a plot puzzle and playing a game.

  • Jumpstart: Write obituaries for two of the characters who died. State their name, occupation, who survived them, how they died, and any other important information.

  • Review for Romeo and Juliet post-test
